City of Peoria Recognizes Peoria Pride
PEORIA - At the Peoria City Council meeting on Tuesday, September 8, 2009, Mayor Jim Ardis presented a proclamation recognizing the Peoria Pride Festival and the "many positive contributions to Central Illinois made by their member citizens..." to Dave Barker, President of CIADE and Peoria Pride.
Dave accepted the proclamation with the following comments:
"Thank you Mayor Ardis.
On behalf of the many lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgendered individuals and families in the Peoria area, I extend our gratitude to the City Council and all those who support diversity in Peoria. Our community is a better place because of our differences, not despite them.
Through the newly formed Central Illinois Alliance for Diversity and Equality we look forward to partnering with the City in the coming months and years to foster a community that continues to respect and embrace diversity.
We invite everyone to join us at the Peoria Pride Festival next Sunday, September 13 at the CEFCU Center Stage on the beautiful Peoria Riverfront. Let’s build a bridge to diversity together."

Peoria Pride will be held at The Landing on the Peoria Riverfront- Sunday, September 13, 2009, Noon-6:00 pm
- Individuals, Couples, Families, Kids and People Friendly Pets are welcome
- Admission is $5 per person at the gate. Kids 12 and under are free when attending with their family. Food, refreshments and entertainment will be available all day. $1 from every paid admission will be donated to the area non-profit organization of your choice.

Peoria Pride is an All Volunteer Event
The Peoria Pride Committee and Staff are all volunteers. Help is needed to help make this a successful event. We need help for:- Setup and teardown at the event site
- Manning entrance gate and various booths
- Hospitality volunteers to assist guests and vendors during the day
